BOBO’s Story

   Kangaroo BOBO, His Story.

Creator Randall Daniels was seeking out a mascot for his Anti-Violence messages he had been spreading. He thought of how long he has known of Smokey the Bear and Smokey helped prevent him from playing with matches and fire.

While researching Smokey the Bear and his creation, he learned that Smokey had been around a lot longer than him. Randall decided, that’s what he wanted. He wanted to make an Impact on the World that would last beyond his days on earth. Just as Albert Staehle did when he first painted Smokey the Bear in 1944.

After considering several animals the most logical mascot for Randall was the Kangaroo. And why is that, you might ask? The sport of Boxing was Randall’s saving Grace and perhaps Boxing even saved his life. Always being the only kid with no Mom after his 7th birthday and he didn’t understand this. That, plus being a product of the inner city fueled an anger and rage that he deemed as normal. But actually he had fear, sadness, hurt and didn’t understand why GOD gave him this life. While being mad at GOD & society, Boxing gave him a refuge to release all of his emotions.

Boxing calmed down his temperament and taught him discipline that he wasn’t expecting. Boxing changed his life FOREVER! Becoming a Boxing Champion in the US Army he had mastered his skills only to lose it all in a one-night brawl. Hospitalized for eight days with a damaged arm, he soon learned sometimes in life we only get one shot at a dream.

Randall’s childhood journey as a slow reader raising himself fuels his passion, purpose and mission to teach Literacy with Anti-Violence messaging. When choosing his mascot, the Kangaroo finally came to mind because they Box and have Boxing skills. What more appropriate mascot for Randall than the Boxing Kangaroo. Which is the sport that saved him.

The name “BOBO The Champ” is in Honor of his Mom “Bobbie BOBO Daniels”. It was his way to create a Legacy for his MOM and make the World aware that a Bobbie BOBO once walked on this earth and that was his MOM!
